And the winner is . . .

Here's how it all played out. Lester stayed on top and A. Contenda stayed on the bottom. Fire Marshall, Mrs. B and Kenny came close, but have been eliminated for a while now. T. B. Husker hung on until the last game, but falls to fifth place. Here are the final standings:

L. P. Stoneworthy (Ray):
22 wins; 24 points (took the lead with Kansas win)

Fire Marshall (Grant):
22 wins; 24 points (had the lead after New Year's Day)

Mrs. B (Jean):
22 wins; 23.5 points (led for much of the competition)

Kenny Pickett (Mark):
22 wins; 23 points (doomed after New Year's)

A True Blue Husker (Nate):
21 wins; 21 points (would have won with OSU win last night)

Alex:
19 wins; 21 points (respectful finish after not picking first 2)

Dr. L (Tim):
19 wins; 20.5 points (middle of the table)

The Rev (Doug B.):
19 wins; 20.5 points (lots of upsets, finishes in the middle)

Chief Justice (Clyde):
18 wins; 20.5 points (joined late, could have cleaned up)

Peanut Head (Tobi):
18 wins; 20.5 points (flipped a coin for every game)

Tiffani:
19 wins; 20 points (very strong start, just unlucky)

Rick Shaw (Jacob):
18 wins; 19 points (won tie-breaker!)

Jack'em Up Kid (Brett):
17 wins; 19 points (picked U of M, but was too far behind)

TANK (David):
17 wins; 18.5 points (just missed last place)

A. Contenda (Sue):
16 wins; 16 points (strong early, but fizzled on New Year's)

I will say this...Herbstreit, Corso, Blackledge, and Holtz all picked the Buckeyes, so at at least I'm in good company.

Laid to rest by the tiebreaker and UCLA's inability to get underneath the football. At least my demise wasn't at the hands of the Cereal Bowl this time.

Thanks for running the Bowl competition. I didn't get your blog until today and had no idea where I stood. Sounds like Mark Mangino came up big for me.

Yeah, I didn't get the blog until Tuesday night, but I had all the picks to keep track myself. However, some running commentary would have been fun during December, etc.

Congrats to the lucky ones that finished ahead of me . . .

I was severely disappointed by the Fox coverage of the NC game Monday night. It was so bad that I almost turned down the sound and turned on the radio to listen to (gulp) Brett Musberger and Bob Davie. But the difficulties went beyond the announcers, who were at best mediocre. The major issue was that either the director didn't show enough replays or they went cheap and didn't have enough cameras in use. How about a replay up the sideline shot to show the end of a play that was obscured by the sideline players. It seemed they had more shots of Tressel chewing his gum than replays. Shoot, they had more shots of the DLP camera than they did of the plays. One other point. In a game this big, did it seem that they stopped to reviewed very few plays. There were some close ones that must have been looked at quickly and the next play would just happen. Then the audience (we the viewers) might get a look at it when it would have been too late to change it anyway. I guess Fox is not ESPN.

I can't stand anything FOX does...I had to wait for ESPN's College Football Final to see a nice breakdown of the "trick play" LSU used to score (was it their first?) touchdown. I also would have liked a better replay of the late hit OSU had early in the 2nd quarter, as I thought it looked suspect. Guess I'll never know. The good news, FOX only has 2 more years of BCS coverage. The bad news, they have exclusive negotiating rights with the BCS. It's enough to make you wish for a playoff.
